Senior Services
Q. Who qualifies for Home Delivered Meals?
A. Senior Citizens 60 years of age and over, homebound, with minimal or no family support who meet guidelines set by Area Agency on Aging.
Q. Who can participate in the meal program at the local senior centers?
A. Everyone in the community is invited to dine at the senior centers. Participants who are 60 years of age and older are requested to make a donation. Anyone who is 59 years of age or less is required to pay actual meal cost. These steps are necessary to assist in supporting the meal program.
Q. Are reservations required for meals at senior centers?
A. No, reservations are not required, but are encouraged. Individuals who register the day before will be served prior to those with no reservations. This is done to assist in lowering our cost and to prevent waste so we can continue to provide these services throughout the year.
Q. Is there a senior center in my community?
A. There are 3 senior centers in Hunt County.
Q. What other services does SCRPT provide?
A. Other services are listed under Senior Services. Administrative and case management services are provided at the Senior Center in Greenville.
Transportation
Q. Who can ride "The Connection"?
A. The Connection is public transportation and, therefore, available to everyone within Hunt County.
Q. What are the costs for transportation?
A. The cost for transportation depends on the rider's age and the destination. For a specific cost, please contact the transportation office at 903-454-1444.
Q. I am 60 years old. What does it cost for me to ride The Connection?
A. The senior transportation program provides transportation to the seniors of Hunt County to specific destinations at no charge. The destinations included in this program are trips to
- Hospitals
- Doctor's offices
- Pharmacies
- Essential grocery shopping
- Senior centers to participate in the meal program
Trips to other destinations follow the same fare schedule as public transportation.
Q. Can I ride The Connection to the grocery store on Saturday morning?
A. The Connection operates from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. You will need to schedule your grocery shopping during those hours.
Q. Is there a scheduled route for The Connection?
A. No, The Connection is an on-demand transportation service. You will need to call at least one day in advance for a reservation. The number is 903-454-1444.
